You only need to remove the 2 lines where the shaft attaches.
18mm wrench and you can get them while reaching over the drivers side fender. No need to touch the other lines on the rack.

I have everything "done" except the 2 lines off the top of the steering rack. I haven't moved the brake lines to far out of the way due to the power steering line being routed in the middle of them. But I will tackle that in the morning after work. Grrrr.

BTW - sure they are 15mm? I don't have a metric flare set (yet) so just wanna make sure.

Just walked in and checked. 18mm is the correct size.
I edited the above post.

Not sure what brake lines you have to move? When you remove the two power steering lines just let them hang there and drip. I didn't move any brake lines on mine.

I need to move the brake lines out of the way to remove the rack. I've seen a few more youtubes and it appears they can be "bent" out of the way. We'll see.

I didn't move any brake lines and I definitely didn't bend any. Still confused on why you need to do this.

Well, finally got the steering rack out. After moving those brake lines out of the way, it wasn't that bad getting the lines off but it was a SOB getting the rack out. Had to lower the rack a bit more and cuss alot.

Anyhow, will try and get the HB off tomorrow morning and start the install. Any one know the torque specs for everything loosen and taken off during this procedure?

This is pretty much how every shop I've spoken with does this, removing the upper control arms with the spindle attached takes about 10 minutes each side.

Worth noting on the C6, the P/S pressure line changed in 08 or 09? It runs downs along side the return line and cooler, this may allow the cradle to be lowered enough without removing the P/S bracket or hyd. lines.

To anyone working on the C6 steering rack/ines, the TSB is worth looking into, pretty sure most pressure lines are leaking as most C6's are about 8 years old.

See post #8, https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...e-routing.html

719c6, did you removed the PS pump and bracket out of the way?

The EBCM bracket comes out first, just note the x3 mount points, one on each side and one at the bottom.

Check out Andy's 'how to' regarding the rack on the A&A site as well, 'C6 SC install'.

HTH.

I did not remove the PS pump. Bent all the brake lines out of the way, remove the two hoses from the rack and pulled them out of the way. MOst pics I've seen show the lines coming off the top and going to the front and over. Mine are routed differently, think it is the "old" style" from what I been reading. The high pressure comes off the rack and down the side and around the steering box.

Once I got everything loosened up and the rack moving, it hung up at the shock and sway bay linkage. I took the linkage off and it came right out. A real pain in the butt though. Hopefully taking the HB off in the morning and resetting the new one. Putting everything back on though is where I need some help now... in torque specs.

Specs on the sway bar linkage and tie rods. The HB is 37lbs plus 140 degress (after seated) if I remember right?

Much easier to move the rack over to the passenger side wheel well, that way you don't have to pull it past the brake lines or any of that. Much easier IMO.

Got the HB off and the new one seated. Steering rack back in place and now getting the PS lines back on. Geesh, I think its harder putting them back on than taking off. Had to stop for today and will continue tomorrow.

Torque specs for cradle and steering rack anyone?
