I apologize upfront for the long post. My issue is this, when shifting into 6th gear the shifter jumps out of gear. Also shifting into Rev. is an issue of not engaging, you have to let the clutch out a bit to get the trans to engage. You know the "2005 Shift to Reverse" curse to turn off the ignition. All other gears are shifting as expected. Specific info about the car, original trans 1st gear carrier bearing failed at 70K miles. I bought the car at 50K and have no idea what previous owners did with the car, drag racing, street racing ect.. I only street drive the car with some agreesive shifting. I purhcased a repalcement T56 from a forum member for an exact match of my car, 2005, Z51 MN6 convertible. I have done the shifter adjustment and no improvement. My concern is when the shop replaced the transmission they did not get the linkage adjusted correctly at the rear end. Is there adjustment at the rear end? I had a local shop r&r due to my work schedule and less than ideal shop enviroment, aka no lift. the clutch and pressure plate were replaced while the car was torn down. I am considering back tracking thier work to see if everything is adjusted as it should be. will not consider going back to the shop, I don't think they are as capable on the corvette as they lead me to believe. Thanks in advance.
My concern is how much damage has already been done, and I do realize you've had significant work already done, at your cost. But those who do the work have to know what they're doing, and it sounds like you don't have a lot of confidence in the more than one shop that's done the work. I'd call either one of the above forum vendors and talk with them in detail about what's been done by you and the shops. Good luck.
Good luck, and come back and tell us how/what's happening. It never hurts to learn more about the trans/clutch, etc.
Long story short - the transmission I purchased was a POS. My shop cracked it open and found someone had done a limited and questionable(parts missing) repair job and bolted it back up. Several gears are toast, 6th being the worst, hence my issue. Should have everything back together and ready to cruise "topless" in a week or so.
Lesson - always confirm and validate, should have had the shop go through the used transmission before it was installed.
