Default EBCM Electrical Connector Removal Help Needed! (2006)

I'm in the process of replacing the EBCM on my 2006 base Z51 and have been able to get the 4 torx screws out but cannot get the large electrical connector / plug to release. I found the video posted here
which walks through most everything but when it comes to the connector, the video skips and he just says it was the easiest one he's ever encountered. So go figure I'd get stuck on that part.

Any help, pictures, diagram, videos, powerpoint, whatever, would be much appreciated. Project is a standstill because the unit will not clear the opening until the connector/plug is removed.

Most connectors that big either have a section that slides which pulls the connector outwards or a lever of some sort. Without seeing it that's all I got

Looking at the video and service manual, there is a latch holding the connector in place (the gray lever looking part in the video). The service manual shows a kind of schematic of it and it has a thumb tab on it that you push to basically "raise or lift" the latch lever and then you disconnect the connector with the lever raised.

From the video it appears you will either be pushing the lever using the thumb tab towards the front of the car, not side to side. I hope that makes some sense and helps you out.

Thank you for the replies. The best view of the plug in question is at minute:second 5:27 through 5:29 in the video I originally included in my post.

Here's a picture of the top of the connector:

Grey thing needs to go to the right. It either slides or is a hinge.

On my ECM there was a lot of dirt on the connector and it was difficult to get started moving

Yup, slide it towards the rear of the car, same type of connector on your ECM in the passenger footwell. My mistake for saying to the front before. Oops.

Hmm, that's what I've tried and it only wants to move about 1/8 of an inch. Maybe it's the dirt/sand in there. I was pushing it so hard without it moving that I thought I might break it.

So there's no other release or holding pin that needs to be activated or de-activated first?

That is correct. Mine on the ECM felt tight too, but a little force motivated it to move and release the connector.

Yeah it's just dirty. I nearly broke the slider thing off the connector on my ecm it was so dirty and stuck. Once I got it off I cleaned everything well and it came on and off pretty easy then

It's just going to take a bit of force IMO

So what was the answer to unclipping the lever? I can't get access to the slanted side of the connector where I think there's something blocking the lever.

Looks like the answer is to push down the black tab in front of the lever https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...oval-help.html

The tab is relatively soft to push, if you can just reach it with a finger or screwdriver.

I believe from this angle you just grab the left grey side and rotate the entire thing counter-clockwise. I think it rotates, not slides....I think

If you're asking the OP, he's been MIA for over 2 years. Better to start a new thread......

I answered my own question This thread is the first google hit, so I thought it's useful to have a proper answer in it.
