Default camshaft advise

Here's my question. I'm in the process of purchasing a used Z06, narrowed it down to a few, some w/modded cam/headers. I know the stock LS7 cam has around.591 lift. What is the most lift to keep the drivability under control, great performance w/great sound yet avoid the bucking, unfriendly issues for street/crusing/travel. I travel a lot and am planning on serious road trips once purchased. Any of you w/experience on this will be appreciated. Thanks...

Lift has little to do with ANY of the issues you site.

Since you apparently know so little about cams, I STRONGLY suggest that you get with a reputable vendor (like Cam Motion), speak with them about your goals, and have them suggest which of their cams will work best for you.

Not tryin' to bust your chops......but speaking to lift as opposed to valve events is really missing the boat.

Driveability is complete subjective. One person will say a 25 degree overlap drives great, other will hate a 5 degree overlap.

Overlap has the most to do with driveability. Stick under 5-8 degrees and most people won't complain, but some will.

I would do the Pat G form, and do what he says.

I just had Pat G custom Spec a Cam for me and I will be having Texas Speed grind the specs -

The specs are "Specific" to my Vette, bolt ons, driving, tranny, gears, use of the Vette, emissions, etc. (there is a entire sheet to fill in)

Lift, Duration and Overlap (- or +) all will play a huge factor -

https://www.guerragroup.com/camshaft-help

The very little you pay and the amount of time you take to fill in and answer the questions on the answer sheet (and as much detail as possible too) is worth every penny $25 for non rush or $40 for rush to order specs

Thanks,Matt
