So last week I had my Hinson Motorsport 1 7/8" headers installed with the catless xpipe and married to my corsa sport axleback. Installer said the kit was great and went in really easy with the same fitment as some of the bigger name companies. Had it tuned and the car made 420wrhp and 423ftlbs and sounds like an absolute animal.
The problem I'm having is after the car is warmed up and after a few good pulls. The car loves to pop on decel and to be honest I like it. However, when it does this I can hear a tin sounding resonance and if you listen closely it happens lightly on acceleration.
I took the car back to the shop and the guy who did the work checked everything and couldnt find anything wrong. He seems to think the noise is coming from the corsa sport axleback. Has anyone had this issue before? I banged on the muffler with a rubber mallet and didnt hear anything so I'm a little lost. Like i said it only makes the noise once the exhaust is hot
That's normal for headers. You will hear the exhaust pulses through the thin walled tubes. Cast iron manifolds are thick enough to mask this sound as are the multi wall LS7 manifolds.
My Chevelle, Blazer and Corvette all have a small amount of the tinny noise at the right throttle position.

This isn't a noise ive heard on other ls3 with longtube headers. My gf drove behind me the other day and said she could here the tinny sound when the car backfired out the exhaust. It's literally the sound if you rap your knuckles on the muffler. I'm wondering if I broke something inside the corsa muffler. are there baffles in them that become loose?
