Default Too soft shifts

Hi, I have a 2007 auto with a Edelbrock Eforce and love the power of it. My only concern is the very soft shifting of the transmission even on sport mode when you want to use the paddle shift. Is there a way to get a firm fast crisp shift instead of that slushy smooth grandpa cadillac feel.

Both engine and trans can be tuned !

Shift points and firmness can be adjusted in a tune. With handheld or dyno tuning.

The trans can be tuned, but a word of caution first. You're not dealing with old school technology where hard slamming shifts were the norm. Find a tuner in your area who runs at the drags, since he understands better than most what works well with that trans. If the "feel" doesn't suit you, a local guy can tweak it until it does, whereas you never know what you have with a generic or mail-order tune.

BTW, this great-grandpa has a bone stock Caddy and a modded Vette with hundreds of 1/4 mile passes on it. The "feel" of the shifts is nearly identical.

For a quick and simple upgrade, I bought the Diablo Intune. It has two upgraded settings for shifting, sport and firm (can't remember the exact names). It definitely made a huge difference in mine.

Its part of Edlebrocks box tune that you flash in when the super charger is installed.

Hence not only does the reflash hobble the motor some more via TM, but it also softens the shifts as well.

The reason for this, with the Super charger in play, the torque curve just went linear from idle up instead.

So before the roots super charger, the torque would climb with the HP, and now with the roots blower, Torque is from about idle up, and you gain only HP with the revs isntead.

Bottom line, someone goes into the tune and de-hobbles the TM to allow all the power to go to the ground instantly, and firms the shifts back up too firm, your not only going to be roasting the tires every time you try to take off, but the car getting sideways ever shift as well.

As for with the super charger, it still has a lot more power to give you by spooling it up, but to pull this off, you need to install a meth kit isntead. The meth mix will not only help to keep the motor cool between boost hits, but keep the octane levels high enough so you don't get detonation with the higher boost levels as well.

Thank you all with the answers. It makes sense that the reflash with the Edelbrock does that now that you explain it. I like the way it shift if I keep it in full auto and floor it, the shift point are great and firm. But I thought in manual shifting it would have been the same but the delay is long and I feel the shifts are smoother. With the last explanation I think I will keep it the way it is.
