Default 2005 clutch, need help

2005 Z51 with 50k mi

Just got the car mid September. Had to go through 2 drive cycles due to no cats and trying to get through emissions. Now that is fine BUT, I got a new "clutch pedal B" CEL when I finished my second drive cycle. The car felt like it was driving fine though.

I went home and looked under the pedal, sure enough it wasn't coming back all the way (still had about an inch before it hit the switch at the top). I physically pulled on the pedal and it sprung right up to the top. I pushed it in again and still it only came back about 80%. Pulled it all the way back again and left it (it was 11pm and i had a 5AM flight the next morning).

got back home today and the clutch travelled the whole distance without issue. I did add a felt furniture pad to help it get another 1/4 so the top switch would be fully depressed when at rest.

Then I started the car up, and the clutch engagement is way closer to the top of the travel now. Idk why this would have changed anything. It isn't just my feel because I could barely move the car around in the driveway because the clutch is engaging weird now.

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

If you're totally new to C6 clutches, I suggest you read this website for a needed education. It will give you info on what is going on and how take care of your clutch fluid, which is critical in these cars.

Either someone pulled the clutch lever assist spring, or it snapped instead.

Pick up a C5 clutch assist spring and install it. Hence the C5 smaller spring has less assist at both the top and bottom of stoke, so it give you a better clutch pedal feed back at the engagement point.

The smaller C 5 clutch pedal spring on the right,

Where it needs to be installed,

This will solve the clutch pedal not coming all the way back up to press the top clutch pedal button with your foot off the clutch, and then the ranger fluid methoud change will solve the changing engagement points of the clutch pedal.

And yes, grease the hell out of the spring, including the ends where the spring ends will go into the nylon bushings, and really grease the U section and tab where the end loop will goes into. If you don't, will be getting squeaking noise when you use the clutch pedal.

Thank you! The clutch actually seems to be operating "correctly" now. The engagement point is different from when I first started driving, but I think the engagement was incorrectly low at first, and now it's correct in being in the middle of the pedal throw. Just took some getting used to.

I saw the C5 spring fix. I'll probably do that at some point soon. But it's driving okay now and I'm in no rush to get back underneath those pedals! I'm a pretty small guy, so idk how other people do it.

oh! And my cruise control works now!! Haha.
