I am getting ready to install ARH headers on my 05. Was considering using spark plug wire (sock type) insulators on the wires and boots. Anyone used these... Thoughts!!!
It depends. If your wires are close to the header, even insulators/socks won't help. It will burn through them. You need to get wires that clear your headers, period. An air gap of at least a few millimeters is required between your wire and the header, and then you will have no issues. The same goes for an insulator sock if you put them on. If you don't have an air gap, they're gonna burn. If it was me, I'd skip the socks and just get a good wire that provides an air gap. That's what I've done on my C6Z with Kooks headers and never have a problem.
I run 2" headers on my setup and kept burning the plug wire on #2 so I switched the Accel Ceramic boot wires and it's been fine ever since. $$$ but worth it in my case.
