Default Tire and Shock Recommendations Needed

It's time to seriously address the wife's complaints about the ride of her DD 05 Vert. She hates that the car gets "grabbed" by the rain grooves and uneven seams of our wonderful Los Angeles area highways. She's OK with the firm ride of the stock (base) suspension so I'm figuring the solution is a change of tires and shocks.

I changed out the stock GY runcraps a long time ago for the Michelin PS runflats and that helped a bit, but I think its time to go to an even softer tire in a non-runflat. Since this is a DD we want good tread life. Since it is in So Cal and not likely to see much snow or very cold weather, a summer type tire should be fine. What suggestions does the braintrust here have?

Shocks - all the reviews I found seem to be either mag control (which we don't have) or a Z51 suspension, also which we don't have. So, it seems the Koni FSD's are high on the list, but expensive. Bilstein always has a high regard, but they tend to run stiff and so are not catching my interest. I have no other experience so I need help here.

Thanks All.

Thanks All.
I have a 2007 3LT with Z51 that I acquired from my brother in-law last fall and your above complaint was his also. His car was a very low mileage (8.5K) garage queen but the handling drove him nuts.

He replaced the GY tires with Michelin Pilot SS ZP tires and had an extensive alignment done by the tire store at the same time which greatly improved it but didn't eliminate it completely. He took the car to his local GM dealer and got them to check the alignment and they changed the setting from the setting of the tire store.

Since I didn't drive the car before I owned it I don't have a comparison but I've put about 4.5K on it since acquiring it and feel its a stable and fabulous handling car now, the best I've ever driven.

I've read previous posts on this forum about the importance of alignment on these C6 Corvettes and I think if you do a search you will find one that indicates what the optimum setting should be.

Good Luck with the solution.
