Default Mustang or Vette?

I'm trying to decide between a 2018 Mustang GT or a 2013 Corvette. Which is faster in 1/4 mile and which is more reliable? Thanks, I usesd to have a 1972 corvette when I was 20 yrs. old now I'm 64. Which would be more enjoyable to own now.?

I only have experience with a15gt but both are pretty great cars imo. Straight line performance will be very similar

Need more details - what model Mustang, and what model Corvette? Plusses for the Mustang are a warranty, and you can take 4 people for short distances vs only 2. 1/4 mile times will be similar, and reliability should be similar. I prefer the Vette (as will most people on the forum); it is a sports car while the Mustang is more a pony car.

Coincidentally, my first car was a 1972 Mustang.

You do realize this is a Corvette forum? I've owned Camaros, Mustangs and Corvettes, in my 63 years. But, I've always been a Vette guy, will die one.

Hands down, get the Vette. I just bought a ZR1, and couldn't be happier! I like the new Mustangs, but they aren't a Corvette. Do what makes you happy, but Corvettes rule!

For a daily I far perfer the mustang. My daily is a 2012 gt, and weekend car is 2006 corvette. Mustang just does all the daily stuff better. More than enough fun, runs 11s all day long with ease, and is comfy and reliable. I would take a 2018 mustang with the new 10 speed in an instant. Plus the new tech of a 2018 puts it was beyond a 2013 vette in my opinion.

Now if you were talking 2018 vette vs 2018 mustang, it is a closer decision, but for a daily I would still take a 2018 stang vs a 2018 vette.

Are you leaving it stock or plan to modify it? Modifying a 2013 vette is a different proposition than potentially destroying the powertrain warranty on a new car.

You really need to drive each. The experience will not be similar.

If you look for a Z06, and you may need to go a little older, it will be faster than the Mustang assuming you want a manual transmission. Likewise the 427 verts from 2013 have excellent 1/4 mile potential with some practice.

I am 63 and have one of each. The Mustang is easier to get in and out of, but the Corvette is faster.

I have a 2016 GT and a 2006 Z51 with a stroked LS3, coilovers etc, and like you, drive the Mustang during the week and the Corvette on weekends.

2 different cars but having read/watched about the 2018 GT with performance package is pretty darned tempting for the money.
Watch some YouTube videos on them, fast yes they are, and good looking but still, its a Mustang and every other car you pass will be one and thats bad, probably a V-6 also LOL

Ditto, need more information.

Hence my play range for a car on a road coarse track is 60mph to about 175mps, and short of a build mustang that is safe for such use use, would no buy a mustang.

Truth is, if push came to shove and had to have a 4 seater saloon car, then it would be a M3 or M5 instead (another car like the vet that is build and handles well at higher autobahn type speeds).

Simply, short of the Shelby GT500 that has any contention of high speed work, the rest of the mustangs are all bark, with no bite instead.

If I was in the market right now. 2018 mustang GT for sure. The engine is mostly forged so it can take some punishment.

I like to mod my cars and love a PD blower. So a whippled GT would be my choice.

I have owned both over the years. Styling wise, I don't really like the new Mustang much. The front looks too much like a Fusion, Focus, Escape.
