Default checking timing on a 2005 C6 question

Is it possible to check the timing on an LS2 without removing the timing cover and checking the DOTS?
I have a Tech2 scan tool if its possible with that.
I had he engine rebuilt and its got a miss under load and i tried putting an oscilloscope on the primary and secondary ignition but the waveforms were all over he place so thought maybe the timing is off.
Not sure how to check....

The LS has a cam sensor on the cover plate that will read the sprocket, and a cam sensor on the back of the motor by the starter that will read the crank shaft, both of which you can read with the Tech 2.

But if you think that the dots are off, or the cam timing was not check when it was installed, then may be time to pull the cover to check both.
