Default Rear Drag Package for Z51

So I've been looking at getting a rear set of wheels and tires that will allow my car to actually get a good shot off the line because currently the 19" Invos on the car suck.

I wanna drop down to a 18" rear wheel dia. to get some more meat in the rear however I don;t wanna have to blow $2k on custom wheels. I know the 18x10.5 +58 wheels will poke out of the fender by almost 1.5in, but I was wondering if anyone has gone to the 18x9.5+57 and stayed with a 285/40R18. I've worked with the online offset calculators that show it would poke .6" more but is that too much on a vette?

9.5 x 17 GM factory wheels will fit and hundreds of Vettes use them. The most popular are C5 Z06 fronts, since they are the lightest of the 4 styles. The others in order of increasing weight at about 1# per style. are C4 A-molds, C4 sawblades, and C4 salad spinners.

Drag radial tire choices in the most popular 275/40/17 size from lightest to heaviest are: Hoosier, MT, M&H, and Nitto.

both. Looking to run MT ET SS radials on them. Hoping the new tires will also help the wheel hop issue the car has currently

Do you mean the 17 x 9.5 ZO6 fronts?

Depends on the track, but ET street R would give you better tracion, c5z fronts 17 x 9.5, would be the way to go. I personally run 305 nt05r on 19" for the street as I don't get on it much and full slick at the track, for best traction, the tires are cheaper and last longer.

So what drag slick do you run?? I have a 2011 GS stick car with wheel hop issues as well at the track on 335/19 NT05R's. Is there a suitable drag slick for 17" wheel??

Be careful on your 17" rim choice. Some won't clear your brakes.
