So I have a 2006 Callaway Vette and I have that great old squeak, did the water test and the pulleys are good but I replaced them anyway I also replaced the belt and now it squeaks even when I do the water test called Callaway and they told me it' probably the tensioner but they don' have the gen 1 tensioner anymore just the upgrade gen 2, so my question is the tensioner looks like a regular factory one with a larger pulley and a different mounting bracket, can I get away with putting a factory tensioner on that bracket or do I have to shell out 250 for the kit for items I don't need, or is there someone on here that has one for sale
My vote since since you can't get the old style tensioner any more, pull the tensioner, pull it apart to get to the arm coil spring, and just replace the coil spring instead (with a spring that is slightly larger in wire size and will have more tension).
Also while you have the tensioner off, pull the pulley to re-grease it's bearings as well.
If the motor still has a OEM HB, that gets pulled, and replaced with a ATI HB (that is bolted together) that is pinned to the crank as well.
Hence the problem may not be the tensioner, but the OEM HB going south to cause problems instead.
Already replaced the HB and re-pinned it and changed the pulley, any idea where I would be able to get a replacement spring. Talked to Callaway and they don' make the gen 1 tensioner they have upgraded to a gen 2 but I really don' want to spend $250 for a tensioner when I already have the bracket and pulley and belt, that' how they sell it

Would need to see what is look likes, but such spring replacements are not hard to find.
