Just bought a 2011 grand sport took it back it needed new rotors they put back on the used brake pads that were at 60% and they said they would be fine they had plenty of life left
Didn’t even get the car home and the brakes would squeal a little bit but every third or fourth stop this dealership guy is telling me He has had three Corvettes in all of them that have Bremble brakes squeal I told him I’m not buying that story from my history with breaks definitely something wrong if they’re squealing consistently and I would never put a used pad on a brand new set of rotors I just would never do that .
this was the rear brakes only and the shop was the Cadillac dealership
Am I just a rookie Corvette owner do bremble brakes squeak a lot?

Reason: Additional info
GS uses the same setup as the C6 Z06. I've had my C6 Z06 for a year and have had brake squeal from day one, not to mention some of the worst brake dust I have ever experienced. About a month ago I swapped my pads out for ceramic pads, Duralast Golds to be specific and have put on over 250 city miles with no squeak and no brake dust. I'm assuming you have always had the brake squeal since you purchased your GS and that's why you put the new rotors on. If you don't plan on tracking your car the Duralast Golds will work fine for you, if you plan to track, then there are other brands that will alleviate your brake squeal for you. To the other part of your question, I would never add new rotors using old pads. Search your brake squeak on the Z06 section.
First off your car does not have Brembo brakes. Your car has Pbr calipers and the squeal is a know issue with this car. The factory pad is a performance pad that can be tracked that's why the noise and dust. If you put on new rotors I would get new pads ASAP. There are many of brands to choose from do some research I prefer the Carbotech in the 1 piece design but its not cheap.

Couple of issues here.....first, it makes absolutely no sense to put old pads (regardless of remaining material) on new rotors. Second....I doubt that a tech at a Caddy dealership has real knowledge of Corvettes (regardless of being in the GM family) & lastly, your GS does not have Brembo brakes. An immediate solution for the squeal would be to apply a thin coat of hi-temp grease to the back of the pads....which should have been done by this mechanic. The squeal is caused by high frequency vibration of the pads under braking....the grease acts to dampen that vibration. Just don't overdo it & don't get any grease on the rotor surface. Best solution, as others have noted, is to replace the pads & likewise apply grease to the backside of the new pads......and find yourself a good Vette mechanic.
