Not sure about the LS2 blocks, but I’m pretty certain that they are blind on the LS3 block. Come to think of it, they must be, oherwise you would need to put sealant on the thread to keep them from leaking around the bolt heads, no? The easy way to check is to pull one bolt out and see if any coolant leaks out.
