Default Surging at 1/2 load 1/2 coasting

Installed new Halltech 103 and dyno tuned. I noted to the tuner beforehand the surging I was feeling. MAF sensor is moved forward on the CAI vs stock. Tuner was unable to cure the little surging issue. Is this normal?
Thank you! Stock cam and exhaust AHP ported heads

Hello,

No sir you should not have any surging issues with your setup.
Sounds like the tune needs more work.

You might be getting turbulent air at the MAF. The MAF readings will read big fluctuations and it upsets the computer.
I wasn't experiencing surging. It was more like a hesitation... like the car would hold its breath every few seconds at low rpm cruising.

For reference: 2009 w/ Honker and Diffuser Kit and Ported TB.

I did the following:

1. Replaced the original MAF using a tested one from Cultrag.
Read this thread: HERE

2. I installed an airflow straightener just before the MAF - Size 100mm 6:1 ratio.
Read this thread: HERE

The new MAF from Cultrag made a notable difference. I added the airflow straightener a few days later and I don't feel the weird hesitation I was feeling at low RPMs at all.

Oh wow great info!! Yes hesitation that’s it!! I’ll check it out. I’ve never heard from anyone about this till now. So why isn’t everyone else having this issue? Calling Halltech was useless Jim will not return calls. Thank you

I really don't know. It took me a good amount of Googling to find the fix.

No worries at all and thank you for the compliment... Just stood out as tune based thing to me. I think your on the correct pat of trying the stock air bridge... If I had to guess its either something in the maf tables on the tune or something in air flow tables.

I talked to tuner, he said first check to make sure airbrige and filter are secured properly. Go from there. I’ll post my findings and further investigation.
