My speedometer is reading zero, and all other gauges work fine. Speedometer goes all the way up and down when starting the car. I noticed the issue while going on a test drive after installing a methanol kit. When I got home I checked under the dash to ensure I didn’t knock any connectors or wires loose, then checked all the fuses. I went for a drive with a ScanGauge2 hooked up and the speed reads correctly on the ScanGauge but the Speedometer reads zero. I searched the forum and found some similar threads, but couldn’t find one with the resolutions.
Any ideas, or does anyone have a wiring diagram.
2007 base model
Speed senor is on the on the top of the diff, but it not the problem, since the ECM/BCM is getting the signal from it, so it displaying to the scan gauge.
The problem is the digital signal from the ECM/BCM to the gauge cluster isntead on the GM land bus.
So on that note, what data wires did you tap into for the meth kit controller, that is causing the problems instead. Hence are you sure that you just tapped into the instrument light wire, and not into the GM land bus wire for the gauge cluster instead. If you did remove the dash cluster, are you sure that you got the connector clipped all the way back in as well?
It is the Alky Control kit, so the only circuit I had to tap into is the Fuel Pump circuit. This is why I figured I must have knocked a wire or connector loose.
Pulled the customer and checked the connection on the back of the cluster. Checked the connections by the battery. Still chasing the Speedometer reading zero. Currently looking for a wiring diagram.
Resolution in case anyone has the same issue:
I found a wiring diagram for the gauge cluster. It shows the Vehicle Speed Signal goes from the cluster to Fuse Block Underhood.
I pulled the fuse block apart and made sure everything was secured tightly.
Went for a test drive and the speedometer is working again. There must have been a loose connection in the underhood fuse block.
