Default Trunk does not open on first release - 2006

I bought a 2006 convertible last month. I have noticed that when I try to pop the trunk, I have to hit the release button twice. The first time the trunk comes up. But I can not get it to open by trying to lift it with my fingers. I have to hit the button from the FOB or the dash button a second time. Anyone have this problem and a fix?

Thank,

Bob

Pop assist spring will help, but may be time to replace the struts as well. Also check the hood struts, since will bank that they are going weak and due for replacement as well.

I have a similar problem with my 2012 GS CE coupe and was thinking of lubricating the hatch seals as they seem to stick. Once the hatch is free of the seals the struts have no problem supporting the hatch on my car.

YMMV, but in my case - 06 Vert - I found the hinges to be the problem. Some WD40 fixed it. Lid now pops up enough to get fingers under it easily, and dropping the lid from a reasonable height latches it. No spring or struts needed.
