I have a 2012 base A6. It's bone stock right down to the stock air filter and run flats. I bought a vbox and tested my car tonight. I put the car in competetive mode and the shifter in "S". I built the car up to around 1,000 rpm. My 60ft was 2.2..my 1/8th mile was 8.40 at 91.6 mph..1/4 mile was 12.7 at 101.9 mph. I know the 60ft is bad and that's hurting my time. I also tried it with the traction control off and it spun through low gear and I ran a 13.1..I realize the 12.7 falls within what stock vettes run in the quarter but the 101.9 mph seems off? I thought it should be between 110 and 115 mph? Do you think the vbox malfunctioned or is my mph that low? Thanks for your responses.
I have a VBox Sport and it is very accurate.
101.9 MPH trap is real low.....you only picked up 10 MPH on the back half of your run (the last 1/8th mile). Could be a host of things, but knock retard comes to mind first, and or cat over temp which adds a ton of fuel to cool down the cats. Both of these items require a scanner to observe.
The fact that you pulled 91 at the 1/8th (which is good) shows the car fell flat on it's face on the second part of the run.

I thought I would add. My car is a non NPP car. I started the car cold and drove it about 6 miles never getting on the car. I then stopped and done my run. I wish the 12.7 was quicker but I can live with that for now. If the car fell on it's face the last 1/8th mile how did I run 12.7? If my run is over 10 mph off what would I have run if the mph was normal. I guess I'm just puzzled.

1/4 mile times are all about the first 330' of the run.... if your car performed well (and as expected), your last 1/8th mile could be slower and the ET won't be hurt too badly but it would show in the MPH trap speeds. Are your VBox settings set to use the 1 foot rollout method of measuring 1/4 mile times ?
Another thing to remember is that a drag strip timing system measures average speed across a 60' speed trap....the Vbox is absolute speed as measured at that point in time.
Set up your VBox to measure increments at 880', 1000' , etc. to see your time and MPH at these points. It's entirely possible the VBox lost synch with the satellites that triangulate and measure your speed (GPS based).
Which model VBox do you have ?
You can also use the VBox tools to look at your acceleration curve in a graph mode to see where the car lays over as you accelerate thru the run.

Yes I'm using the 1 ft rollout method. I'm not sure of the model. It's the vbox performance box. I don't have to download anything to my phone. The box has a screen on it that shows me everything. I just got the vbox and I've only had the car a week. I'm putting some good octane booster in the tank and trying it again tonight to see if that makes any difference. I'll use the 880 and 1,000 tonight so I can get more data. I'm still learning how to use the vbox. I thought it would be nice to see how much difference it made when I done upgrades. Thanks for your help. This is my first c6 so I'm learning.
