Harmonic balancer replacement advice - Ventura County
Based on the advice presented in a number of threads, I'd like to replace the stock balancer with an ATI (either 917246 or 917266) and the ARP bolt. kit (234-2503)
The mechanic I have been going to for years locally will only replace with AC Delco or an aftermarket brand (in this case, Dorman) for the purposes of his 2 year/24000 mile warranty on his work.
His work has been impeccable over the years, so I'm hesitant to go to a different shop, but at the same time, I'd rather only do a job this big once, so I'd like to get a replacement part that is likely to outlive the car.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a mechanic in the Ventura County/San Fernando Valley who guarantees their work with non-GM parts?
Also, I'm considering replacing the timing chain and timing chain cover seal and given the age of the car. I don't see a lot of posts here about failed timing chains on the LS2, (excepting in UD pulley situations). Growing up, it use to be a common recommendation after 100,000+ miles to replace it. Is that still a thing or am I being over-cautious?
