Borla exhausts
I own a 2006 LS 2 and want to install a Borla exhaust system (along with a K&N Cold Air Intake).
Was wondering what advantages there are, if any, in going with the Cat-Back system instead of the Axle-Back system.
There's about a $300 difference in price.
I'm leaning towards the Axle-Back because the main feature creating the improved sound I want are the mufflers, which the Axle-Back alone has.
I can't see any added benefit in extending the exhaust up to the Cat Converters.
Comments?

The catback will be louder and will gain more power than the axle back since there are less restrictions with the removal of the catalytic converter.

If you plan on purchasing headers most header systems come with matching x pipes. In that case I'd go with an axleback or else you're going to end up with an extra X pipe you can't use. If you never plan on installing headers, go with the catback system.
