OBX LT's and x-pipe
hey guys so I have a 2006 c6 corvette, it's a base model ls2 6spd manual and I recently put obx 1 7/8 long tube headers with a 3" x-pipe and everything fit perfectly and sounded AWESOME! Unfortunately I parked my corvette outside for a few days and when I went to pull it back in my garage... somebody stole the mid-pipe out from under my car 😡😡 also, OBX doesn't sell JUST the 3" x-pipe so now I'm shopping around to see if there are any other brand 3" x-pipes that you know of that would bolt up to those headers? I know header/x-pipe combos like kooks have a bend to them where they bolt together. And no I also don't want to bring it to an exhaust shop and have them "make" one.
Anybelp would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Cant think of another one that's similar off the top of my head. I know you don't want to make one; but since you had 3" x-pipe...perhaps you can find a super cheap OE take off mid-pipe from a C6Z, that I feel like it could be made to fit with minimal fab work from a muffler shop. Obviously this would be catless...but it could get you back on the road with minimal investment, and you could continue your search for the exact part you want without having to keep your car parked.

That sucks. Sounds like you need to get it custom made... Your best bet is to take the OEM mid pipe and have it chopped up to fit the headers.

Probably. Depends what part they stole - did they take it from the header flange ball and socket joint or did they just cut it off? If the ball/socket flange is there you're in luck and it'll be easier to make the midpipe work with the mufflers. YOu'll still have to tune out the rear o2s since the midpipe holds the rear o2s.
A decent muffler shop should have the joint available... with your stock 2.5" midpipes and a 3" to 2.5" reducer you'll have basically the full OBX setup.
The obx LT's have a 3"-2.5" neckdown pretty quickly after the rear 02s if i remember correctly.

The average thief might take your wheels or stereo but not an x pipe. I'm willing to bet one of your so called "friends" or at least someone you know is responsible. I know its too late now but keep an eye out and your x pipe will show up on a friends car or one of his friends. Sorry this happened to you and I hope you get it fixed.

A decent exhaust shop will have no issues fixing it with a true X pipe. you can find 3" x's for sale on ebay, amazon, etc. Don't do a Y pipe, you WILL lose power.

is there an advantage or dis-advantage between having the exhaust shop make a x-pipe, h-pipe or just run two pipes straight back to some axle backs? Believe it's called "true duals". I was able to pick up some 2.5" borla pro touring exhaust for cheap so i can have them fab something up in the middle. If it's just a difference in noise and doesn't affect power of the car then I'd just do the true duals and run two pipes straight back to the axle backs.

Tons of information here on X and H pipes... http://garage.grumpysperformance.com...r-h-pipe.1503/
Short answer though, yes...both are an advantage over none.

X will make you the most power due to scavenging. H pipe is easier to make, smaller, and will still scavenge somewhat. True dual is easiest but theres no scavenging effect.

There's nearly no difference betwe X-pipe and H-pipe if I recall correctly. Watch the Engine Masters episode #22 they computer X, H, and straight pipes on the dyno.
