im going to upgrade the differential in my 05 M6 to the 06 and later case. I will be installing 4:10 gears so I will need to re calibrate the speedo. Can this be done with a Tech2 or does it have to be HP Tuners. Also does the Vehicle Speed Sensor transfer over to he late model case or do I need to get a different one for the later case.

Manual cars do not need to be reprogrammed for different gear ratios.
RPM Stage 4 rear diff with 4:10 gears in an 05 M6 Coupe. All the above are correct, no need to re-calibrate the speedo. This is the best upgrade as far as making this car fun to drive!! Also during cruising it makes using the cruise control so much better.
Thanks for the feed back on the 4:10 rear being a good choice I have been wrestling with the decision about what gear to put in it. It is primarily a street car and I'm a old Drag Racer so I plan to make some passes next year. My main concern is the 2.97 1st gear that just seems huge for a 4:10 rear but everyone says they like the car with 4:10's so what the $%#&.
Sorry Forgot to add the quote

Thanks for the feed back on the 4:10 gear. I've been wrestling with the idea of gearing and thought maybe 4:10's would be to much with the 2.97 1st gear but everyone I've talked to says they like it. This is primarily a street car but I'm a Drag Racer from the old days and I want to make some passes with this car next year.

Just be ready for first gear to be low but as far as I am concerned this was the best choice I made when replacing my blown diff. It was like a whole new beast afterwards. Good Luck!

As of right now, it's still on and yes I'll be feeding everyone there. Come out and see us.
MY change was to 4:10 also, love it still after 10 years.
Granted 1st gear is a quick shift, I usually shift around, 500 rpm give or take a few hundred.
I can easily start out in second if I want but rarely do.
I also enjoy downshifting for braking, and yes I know it adds additional wear but I drive the C6 for fun. The 4:10's are wonderful for this. Also I am usually not in higher rpms either when downshifting.
Kinda of a lightweight being 70 yrs now.
