Default Lifter pump up???

got an LSX that is giving me a head ache with valvetrain. I measured pushrod length and set preload at roughly .030 but when trying to start its hard to start and missing and came out it’s holding valves open. If I go to a .050 shorter pushrod then there’s a rather large gap between the rocker arm and valve stem but runs with the shorter pushrods just a bit noisier. Right around .050 between the rocker arm and valve stem tip with shorter pushrods. I’m using brand new morel 5315 lifters. Any suggestions would be great!

Measure for pushrod length properly. It's not too difficult but they need to be right.

Thank you for your reply, I have measured pushrod length and have 4 sets of different length pushrods in .050 increments and anything larger than 7.150 (the 7.150 makes a gap between the rocker arm and valve stem tip) and it won’t run right. It’s like the lifters won’t bleed down
