Default Tune after Intake? (Please read first)

Hey CF,

I have a 2010 GS 6mt. Has headers and exhaust installed. The car has been tuned for these.

If I add a CAI, will I need to re-tune? Looking to do a cam install next year and would really rather hold off on a re-tune until then.

Give me your expert facts, not opinions please. Either I put it on if not needed, or I don't if it is and hold on to it until the cam install.

Thanks,

FR

If you only do a CAI install you can drive it w/o a tune
It is a minor mod

Yes and no. You can install it, drive it around. If the car doesn't throw codes or act funny after install great, roll with it but if it gives you a CEL, feels funny, or get a jerky feeling you will need a tune. You will get a tad more power from the tune if you re-tune with the CAI

what cold air intake are you thinking? my hurricane intake used to throw CEL i modified the maf curve slightly and adjusted the VVE for the headers. the biggest problem that i see is heat soak on the MAF sensor when idling for long periods of time, this is prone to any LS motor with a MAF with integral IAC sensor.

i don't see any issue throwing the intake on.

Depends on the intake. Some have factory or close to factory cross sections across the maf and won't have issues. Others need a tune because they are so far off it will effect all the fueling. So there is no yes or no answer.

I installed a Corsa carbon fiber intake on mine, Corsa specifies that this intake does not require a tune and it didn't throw up any lights or codes after install for me.
