Default Need mod advice

My gs is currently around 440-450hp. I wanna get to 500 soon. I’m not sure what mods to start with. I just joined the vette fam and appreciate any advice. Financially I can’t do anything too crazy right now so I’m trying to stick to more affordable mods at the moment

It’s pretty much all stock. Only thing I’ve done is a diablo sport 91 octane tune. Nothing else

Are you wanting 500 hp at the crank or 500 at the rear wheels? An are you an auto or 6 speed msnual?

Best starting mods for power would be Longtube headers(ARH or Kooks) and a Air intake such a Halltech. Then of coarse tuning to wrap it up. After that most jump into a Cam swap if staying NA. Many options and paths to go though depending on end goal and budget.

500 at the wheel. It’s a 6 speed manual

You'll need a big/nasty cam to get there without lots of upgrades on the top end.

Going faster cost money. How much faster can you spend?

(what's your budget?)

Typical stock C6 Grand Sport makes about 390 HP to the wheels so you will need about 110 more RWHP.

Skip the intake, its a waste of money. The stock GS intake is excellent and there isn't any gain from an aftermarket one. The only "gain" on the intake side would be to install a shroud to isolate hot engine air from being ingested. Won't gain you power, but you won't lose any either, will just be more consistent.

Definitely a good set of quality headers will be needed. $1700 to $2000 - 20 to 30 RWHP

A moderately sized cam also. Don't need anything crazy big. But will also need new springs and pushrods. $700 - 30 to 50 RWHP

A set of aftermarket CNC ported heads will also be needed. Or have your stock heads CNC ported (best value). $1000 to $2500 - 25 to 50 RWHP

And a good tune to make everything work together. $500 to $750 - 20 to 30 RWHP

All the prices I listed assume you doing all the installation work.

This will get you where you want to be. Look to spend at minimum $3500 and it goes up from there.

A supercharger will also get you there.

what would be a good cam for a reasonable price? If I’m not looking to go crazy big at the moment
