Any oil that meets the requirements in the owner's manual is fine. I am partial to Pennzoil Platinum 5W30 since it's a really good oil that you can buy about anywhere, and it meets the requirements.
I use Mobil 1, but any other quality 5W-30 Synthetic will be fine.

Note: Don't use Lard ... I have found that it just gets too thick when it gets at a cold temp... But lard does work great when making home-made breakfast biscuits !

Walmart syntech 5w30 oil $17.00 for 5 qts of synthetic oil and it's rated 1 level higher than the original specs.
I understand that Quaker state is the oil's maker, but I haven't been able to confirm this statement.

402 stroker makes much more heat, then throw in bearing clearances via my engine builder and while we tried 10w30, idle pressure was 21-23psi. Bumping up to 20w50 brought my oil pressure up to 35-38 idle.
