NPP Solenoid Test/Access
I recently bought a 2008 Base Convertible with the NPP option. The valves have been open full time. I went to install a bypass switch so I can shut them when cruising with the top up, due to the drone. I figured the previous owner just pulled the fuse and that is no the case. The 10A fuse that belongs there is good. After searching the forum I discovered the location of the solenoid, behind the right inner tail light.
My question is, how can I go about testing the solenoid to see if it is stil functioning? I'm assuming removal and bench testing is the best option? Can I get to the solenoid from removing the inner trunk wall as access through the light hole is limited to say the least. Also, where does the vacuum line run under the car and where in the firewall does it cross? When I can get the car off the ground I want to check the vacuum line.
Thank you,
-Dave
Just pull it, then try to suck air through one of it ports with no power to start with (should not be able to suck air through it with no power), the put 12volts to the wire connectors, and now should be able suck air through the ports.
If the solenoids working correctly (closed with no power, open with power), then start the car, and test the connector in the car to make sure you have 12 volts on that connector pins.
If you are still good, then you have a leak/brake in the lines from the back of the intake manifold, to the end point muffler gates.
Line piping can be see in below link,
