The first step would be to see if it is a mechanical or electrical failure. If you search for HUD issues on the forum, there is a common one where the mirror somehow mechanically is no longer in the position it needs to be in. Perhaps at night, turn out all of the lights on your car and see if you can see some green glow coming from the HUD. If so, it is likely the mechanical failure. If not, it might just be that the electrical part producing the light has failed.

The plastic brackets inside most likely broke.
after 13 years it’s common on cars in high heat areas.
