So about 300 miles ago the serpentine belt flew off while driving and was shredded. It took the AC belt off with it. The ac belt was fine but bought new ones of each and put them on. Drive a couple hundred miles and the serpentine belt began separating along one of the end ribs and the ac belt won’t stay on. I also noticed a very faint squeak coming from the front part of the engine but can’t pinpoint it. While reasearching a lot on this forum I began to focus on the HB and pulleys based on all the other posts. The tensioner pulley seemed worn so I replaced it and immediately noticed even the new one was jerking side to side (not the wheel itself, the entire tensioner portion left to right, not front to back) which would indicate the other pulleys need to be replaced as well, based on what I’ve read here.
Interestingly tho, I cannot find a single wobble in the HB at all!! However, it is sticking forward approximately 1/3 inch which I know is an indication that it’s gone bad. If it wasn’t for the fact that there is literally no wobble in the slightest, I would just replace it. So my question is, can the squeak and HB being forward of the other pulleys, but with no wobble, just be the bolt and not the balancer itself going out? The car is cammed so the HB would have been removed when that went in but I have no idea when that was. It’s an 07 manual Z51 with 48k miles.
Either your bolt is loose allowing hb to move or the elastomer rubber between inner and outer hub of hb has failed and allowed outer hub to move backwards or forward.Shredding or throwing belts means something is moving.Quite often if bolt is loose you will be able to turn it by hand.Try turning it and report back
