Default Trunk won't pop

Hi guys, My 2008 convertible's trunk won't open with the button on the dash or the from the key fob. It worked fine up through Saturday morning, but it wouldn't work Saturday afternoon. The door locks on the fob work, but when I push the trunk button, the taillights flash, but that's it. I was able to use the key to get into it manually.

I tried it again yesterday, and the trunk immediately opened. I closed it and tried again and was denied.

Any ideas?? Thank you!

I had the same problem with my '06 convertible. The actuator in the trunk's left panel is dying. It is expensive to replace (tough to get to). You can buy a commercial trunk popper and they work well. I found a similar device at Lowe's. I originally placed two of them on either side of the trunk .I didn't like seeing two of them, so I placed one at the top part of the trunk where the commercial ones are placed. I painted it black and it is almost invisible and works great. Trunk pops right up now. I know this may not make sense. Take a look at my post about this and pics. It will make sense then:
