Ok, finally found the source of my gas stench. After dropping the driver’s fuel tank and not seeing any evidence of a gas leak, I followed the 10 ft fuel line from the firewall to just above the left tank. Now that the tank and mid-pipe exhaust is out, this gave me plenty room to inspect visibly. The former owner had added a SS braided line that we use to clean out the clutch fluid. Without a poly covering, the O.D. of these flex lines have a very rough finish. It was in contact with the fuel line and was rubbing. After pressuring with air, sure enough this showed bubbles. Guess I could have smoke checked this first, but to find this I would still have had to drop the mid pipe to view. So, I’m asking for advice. Now that I spent most of a Saturday taking the gas tank out, should I replace my fuel pump? This is a ’06 ZO6 with 60K miles. No evidence of a crack starting around the 90 degree plastic fitting at the top. Why fix it, if it ain’t broke. Right? Anyone??

Reason: thought it best to clarify title
Since you've gone through all that work I would definitely change it out, not worth the few bucks it cost to do so.
I was having my tranny serviced, oil and filter I had the shop replace my shifter cable, not that any thing was wrong with it but I figured they are right there, not worth challenging Murphy on some things.
Good luck.
