Default TECHS ONLY! Drivetrain Swap

I got no help and lots of "don't do it/it's not worth it" in the general forum. Maybe I'll fare better here.

I'm a retired mechanic/welder/machinist, so looking for people with first-hand experience with removal/install on these. I'm wondering about swapping another engine/trans/diff INTO my totaled c6. It's almost all body damage, drive-train is fine. I'm considering pulling the drive-train and looking for another way to use the remaining cart.

How hard would it be to swap in a c4 or other IRS diff and go to a driveline?

Would it just be building some mounts and getting half shafts the right length?

Would it be easier to swap in an entire IRS and build an adapter plate if needed?

Is there something I'm not thinking of that might cause problems?

Is there a simple way to adapt the torque tube to another engine and use the rest of the existing drive-train?

Thanks.

Problem is the electronics, or better yet the GM hand shake security code between the modules.
The BCM is looking for a specific ECM (and other modules to begin with), and when you start to swap motors, drive lines and such, may have to use a different ECM/modules with them instead.

I'm not saying that is can't be done, but you need to know the GM electronics side for the needed wire make ups/deletes to start with to get the new transplant to work for a street car. For a race car, pretty simple since you just buck wild on deleting out the modules for the most part, and keep just the ones to get the motor to run instead.

Here's what I'm looking at: Entire gauge cluster can be removed or refitted. Stereo, lighting, starter, and HVAC controls can be replaced. Might need to find another way to work the doors (from outside)/windows if stock system won't co-operate, but all of this has been done before with aftermarket systems. That shouldn't be too hard. Even ABS can be redone fairly easily. I'm thinking active handling might not be worth the effort, but even traction control shouldn't he too hard. All of the necessary electronics can be replaced with something else. I'm not trying to run a rotary engine off of an LS3 computer here.

I'm mainly asking about converting the drive-train to a different style or reusing the torque tube/trans/diff setup with a completely different engine and what considerations I might need to investigate further.

Thanks.
