Default Throttle body question.

I had the "pleasure" to help a friend with his 2010 (3000 miles, automatic trans) . The cars died and was towed home. Had an error code for throttle position sensor. When he pulled the plastic air intake from the throttle body he found a piece of cardboard (see pics) stuck in the butterfly of the throttle body. I've since got the car running but was wondering what this is. Is it something from the car itself or did it somehow get stuck in there. Can't find the part from the number on. The cardboard has a sticky side and what looks like precise folds. Anyone know what t is and what, if any purpose it serves? Thanks

Above is spot on as per usual. That thing is glued or taped on between the air filter and the throttle body on the top inside radius of your air intake. I wonder how many hydrocarbons it can actually catch. Ain't much to it. I am surprised that it came completely off in 3K miles in this case. One of mine was loose at one corner. It took quite a bit of rubbing and tugging to get it and the adhesive completely off. I can't help but think that one of these things coming completely loose at WOT could make for a really bad day for someone. No way would I buy another one and put it back.

I was thinking of removing mine inside the intake. Some of it is coming unglued. What did you use to get it all off? I'm guessing it's a pita to get rid of all of it?

This one came off all by itself and lodged in the butterfly of the throttle body.

True but it's also the only time I've ever heard of that happening which makes this a rare case. Think of all of the tens of thousands that have not fallen off and still have the glue attached. Was just wondering if anyone has pulled theirs off and how difficult the glue was stuck on.

I think I grabbed the part that was unglued with a pair of pliers and pulled to get the paper part off. That left a lot of the adhesive still on the intake. I just rubbed the adhesive one way and then the other. Kind of rolling it with my thumb. It took a little while and my thumb was kind of raw before I got it all off. I don't know if any kind of chemical would have made it easier.

WD40 will remove the glue.

WD-40 may help remove the glue. It does work well on old masking tape glue, but is ineffective on packaging tape glue.
