I have the dreaded stuck in P disease. It's now been four days that I've been fiddling, cajoling, name calling and attempting to coax my C6 out of Park. I've tried the accessory mode trick. I've tried the accessory mode with light forward pressure trick. I've pumped the brakes over and over listening for the tell-tale thunk of the solenoid movement to no avail. I've read (I think) all the posts, studied all the videos and PDF's, and as near as I can tell, you have to remove the console to address this problem whether you want to tie the pawl back, cutt it off or replace the microswitch. OK.
BUT, my understanding is that to remove the console you must be able to get the sifter out of Park.
Is there any way to access the pawl without completely removing the console?
Try this trick to get the shifter out of Park. I'm not sure if it work, but it may.
If it doesn't work, you can still remove the Radio Surround console with the shifter in Park. It just makes it a bit tougher that's all. The hardest part is getting the console far enough back to unplug the hazard switch, and the cig lighter.
It is doable.
Thanks!. I think the image you show is for something else. I did try it though..just in case and no luck. I've unassembled the console so it's loose and I can't see how it will make it over the shifter without being able to move the shifter into park. Have you actually been able to remove the console of a C6 while it's in park?
