I've searched the forum and online to find out if the harmonic balancer issue extended to the 2013 year model but can't find confirmation. Did see a listing on a tech sheet that seemed to show 06-12 years. Are the later years of the C6 better than the earlier ?
I've had my balancer go bad twice, and it's fairly easy to spot and diagnose - it didn't fail quickly either or immediately for that fact (YRMV). Generally the belt will squeak on startup for a bit, it will start to throw belts off & there will be an incredibly visible wobble. Some wobble's fine though.
My question is does the problem extend into the 2013 year models or did chevy finally fix the problem so it wouldn't continue with the C7 models.
I've fixed a '98 manual and about to do my '05 MN6 so the problem is definitely in those years. I'm fairly sure the HB problem exists for all the LS1, LS2, and LS3 engines since they seem to all use the same HBalancer. In my case, my '05' is ~15 years old with 54K miles. I doubt very much if Chevy cares about failure rates well past warranty, except for the next design iteration.
I would see what parts the C7 uses for the HB and that might give you some guidance as if the problem still exists.
Personally I'd like to see a poll as I THINK the problem is rev (manual transmission mostly) and age related, but I'm just thinking out loud here. I do know that my '71 Chevy Nova 3 Speed Hurst stick had a bad HB at 152K miles,
