Garage Door Opener Problem 2011
I recently bought a 2011 and am trying to program the opener. Opener is Craftsman, only a few months old. Tried the procedure in OM numerous times with no luck. It appears that tech support is no longer available through Learcar2U.
Any thoughts on what is typically done wrong or goes wrong?
Thanks,
Charlie

You will need to add a compatibility bridge for the Lear Car2U opener to work with the newer Liftmaster/Chamberlian/Craftsmen garage door openers (+2.0 security).
The bridge is $27 from Liftmaster.

If you have a newer Liftmaster, Chamberlain or Craftsman garage door opener with the +2.0 Secerity you will need a bridge (repeater). There are two different bridges required depending on if your Corvette has a Homelink or CAR2U visor opener.
To the best of my knowledge Corvettes manufacturered between 2008-2011 have the CAR2U opener and all others have the Homelink. I could be wrong on this. My Corvette is a 2011 and it had the CAR2U. I believe your owners manual tells you which opener you have in the programming instructions.

My repeater does work, but it has only about half the range of the button opener. I also have to hold the visor button 3 to 5 seconds to get the door to open. I believe this is the repeater effecting the range and speed because one of my buttons is programmed for my 3rd/4th bay garage door, which has an older Genie and it works just great.
Personally I think it's bullshit Liftmaster, Chamberlain and Craftsman didn't build this ability directly into their openers. The electronic circuitry to do this would have cost 50 cents if it had of been built directly in at time of manufacture. YMMV
Anyhoo... I hope that long explanation helps some of you. It took me a week, including ordering the wrong bridge on my first try, to learn all of that and to get everything up and working correctly. If you know about the bridge and order the correct one to start with its a simple job.

One thing that might help to ID the system if the owners manual isn't around is the Homelink visor panel has one LED in the center of the unit with a little embossed home around it while the Car2U unit has one LED over each button.
I just when through this with my new Liftmaster opener and found neither of my cars would work with it. On top of that, the Vette is using a Homelink, the other car is using a Car2U and the repeaters are unique to the type - freaking crazy. I'm cheap so I just setup the Homelink since the Vette will probably be around longer than the other car.
I'm surprised to hear the range with the repeater went down. In my case, I can get 100ft or so with the repeater and visor button but the included remote is <20ft and usually take multiple tries to work.

Did you use the correct bridge? The reason I ask is I called Liftmaster to find out why my new opener wouldn't work with my Corvette and was told you need a bridge. They took my car info, charged my credit card and sent me a bridge. After attempting to get everything working for a couple hours I called Liftmaster again and after over one hour on the phone troubleshooting it was discovered they sent me the wrong bridge.
Well phase 1 didn't work. I tried to save a couple of bucks and went to Ebay instead of Liftmaster to purchase the bridge/repeater. I then proceeded to purchase the wrong one- for Homelink, which the '11 does not have.
We'll try this again.
