Mine has a pretty loose (aka loud) exhaust system and does that when I let off the throttle. Lack of quiet mufflers allows you to hear that, at least that is my understanding.

With headers and hi-flow cats and the NPP exhaust in open mode, on de-cel, I get a lot of cracking, burbling, and occasionally loud pops.

You don't say if you're running headers and/or after-market exhaust, but if so, the popping & crackle on down shifts is normal.
