Picking up my first Corvette Friday and would like to replace the stock exhaust system. It's a 2010 base model with 6spd manual and non-NPP. Looking for something that has growl but doesn't **** my wife off on longer drives with the drone that some exhaust has. I think i want the Billy Boat Fusion with the Mild to Wild switch. Anyone have any advice for a newbie? Any other systems i should consider? Thoughts on the Fusion? Thanks in advance.
Depends on how much you want to spend and what you plan on doing.
Are you going to add headers and or cam later?
I have a cam, headers and the B&B Fusions. If you want to go the cheaper route just get some stock NPP mufflers and if the tips are too small add bigger tips with the mild to wild kit. The Stock NPP mufflers are very very quite. But if you want too spend a lot of money go with the B&B Fusions. They are a notch or 2 louder in closed mode and in open mode a notch or 2 louder with a nice tone. Looking back at it I had a stock NPP system with muffler modded and just should have kept it just added bigger tips. I love my Fusions.
I recently put the Corsa sport axel back on my 2007 and absolutely love the sound. The tips are beautiful and no drone at cruising speeds. I only wish I did them years ago.
Used NPP, Z06, and ZR1 mufflers show up often on the for sale page. Get headers with the appropriate mid pipes so it all bolts together. Z06 and ZR1 mufflers take a bigger set of mid pipes. This route is WAY cheaper than using new Corsa or Fusion axlebacks. You don't even need a contoller. You can hook the mufflers up to engine vacuum to operate the flaps. They will stay closed at cruise and open any time you hit the throttle hard. I hooked mine up this way waiting for the controller to arrive. That was months ago. The new controller is still sitting in my shop. I like it better controlling the muffler volume with my right foot. Anybody need a new NPP in a box?
