Default 2006 Operating Temperature

Just purchased a 2006 convertible. Got to drive about an hour today here in MI with a temperature of 77 degrees. The temperature gauge was at 215. Is this a normal temp?

i hope someone else will answer as well, but i think that's normal when stuck in traffic or idling in a parking stop.
when you're moving at say 40 to 50 mph constantly, it should be a lot cooler , about 190 F or so.

for peace of mind look under it to make sure there aren't a bunch of leaves clogging up the radiator

I think 215° is a bit high, especially for your ambient temp. Here in Orlando it's around 95° today and mine is running around 200°-205°

My 2006 runs around 200 F most of the time, but I have seen it as high as 219 F when standing in traffic.

If you have time, check the front of your radiator for leaves or debris, and occasionally backflush the radiator fins on the engine side with a water hose to clean any debris caught in betweeen the fins. That could affect air flow for sure.

That should be normal. As long is it drops right back down to the lower 190s once you start moving I would not be concerned.

I agree, mine runs 194-196 when moving down the road with A/C off , with A/C on it runs about 199-200..It also depends on which thermostat you have in the car.. When I had a 187 degree stat it would run 190-194 , with the 195 stat I have in now it runs about 194-196 average .....WW

Honestly, it's probably less supercharger and more intercooler in front of the rad?? Forgot about that piece of it.

Mine has always run at 205 degrees F. My '95 C4 has always run from 188 to 197 at freeway speeds.

Do you have a front license plate blocking air flow.

Look for debris between evap and radiator.

check radiator fluid level.

Have you cleaned the evap and radiator.
