OK! When you disconnected the tank crossover pipe, all the o-rings and plastic rings spilled out were dangling from the fuel return jet-pipe. Before you could note the order they were in, the return pipe popped loose and they fell to the floor.
Now what?
You have a green o-ring, a yellow o-ring, a small black plastic ring and a larger black plastic ring with a beveled interior.
Put them back into the tank in THIS order.
1. Green o-ring.
2. Small black plastic ring.
3. Yellow o-ring.
4. Large black plastic ring with inside bevel.
Update: (This thread is worthless without pics)
The people who took the time to take pictures of this have all either lost their photo server accounts or got screwed by PhotoBucket and the pictures that remain don't show the order well.
Here is another suggestion that I found very helpful. A local certified GM corvette mechanic told me he always installs a new cross over pipe when dropping tanks. 5 weeks ago, I replaced the driver's side fuel sending unit in my C6 ZO6. Doing this on jack stands at home without dropping the tranny and rear end is possible but tricky. I finally ordered a new cross over pipe from a GM Parts Discount house for only $143. After messing around with the original one, this new pipe slipped in so quickly and easily. To successfully finalize a potentially brutal project, this new pipe, to me, was worth it's weight in gold
