ok fellas got some good data from tonights track session ran my first pass was a 7.81@93 with a 1,90 60 ft this was with traction control and AH ON launching just at idle so yea I was ok good I should do better with it off but no sir matter of fact it felt funny even upon my burnout then my second pass with traction control off was a 2.2 60ft with a 8.1@93 then my third pass was a8,01@91 with a 1.93 60ft and yes all passes are 1/8 only ad I was on a set of MT DRs 305/35/18s which I borrowed from my 02 WS6 so yes I do understand with a 275/40/17 ill go faster but this is what I had to use in the end I was happy with what it ran for now especially seeing that its only mods are CAI, headers Xpipe with cats and muffler delete and a 93 pump gas Tune the car is an 08' A6 by the way

Check the date codes on the drag radials, once they're older than two years (or less if they haven't been stored properly) they don't work quite as well.
The fact you went slower with traction control off is a good indicator you're still not hooking very well.

yes true because the second pass lost 3 sec on both the 60ft and ET but the mph stayed the same? also a friend of mine who was there said the damn track people were lining us up OUT of the groove which pissed off many especially because most everybody out there was on DRs or slicks

You gotta trust me on this as I know what I'm talking about - with a decent set of tires that are inflated properly, TC turned off and with a proper burnout there's almost no reason you can't just floor the car at the starting line and hang on.

oh believe me I do trust your experience that's why I even asked now im not a complete racing rookie just a rookie with vettes now back to my issues that first pass felt so unbelievable strong I couldn't wait to turn off all electronics but its weird because turning traction control off seemed opposite of traction control on if that makes sense? also what tire would YOU recommend I use ??? my car is a base model with Z06 brakes

You slowed down because you spun the tires which is why your 60ft went from 1.9 to 2.2.
Hoosier drag radials if you live within 25-30 miles from the track, or have the option of swapping them out when you get there.
Mickey Thompson drag radials if you need to drive on the street with them quite a bit as they'll last a lot longer than Hoosiers.
Did you check your tire pressures before each pass?

well I may have spun but it didn't feel like plus the car did NOT feel as strong as the first pass? I dropped psi down to 20 PSI on the 1st and 2nd passes and dropped it down to 18psi on the 3rd and did like a 5 sec burnout each time

I meant what tire size and yea I drive on them a bit so I use Mickeys my son uses the Hooters he has a M6 2017 Camaro SS
really? just to set myself a goal I was shooting to go as fast as Shane Hinds which with similar mods he went 11.47@119 in the 1/4 but 7.47@98 in the 1/8 with a 1.8 60ft I don't think he used a tire that big lol but again its just what I have for now

Oh, I thought 18" was your only option.
If 17s are an option then I'd go with a 275/40/17 or 315/35/17.

I don't remember, sorry, as it was over 12 years and 2 different cars ago.
Did you notice if they were lining you up out of the groove when you made your runs? There was no need for them to do that if you were running drag radials. My LS2 auto car with similar mods at that time with a Fast 102 went 7.3 in the eighth and 11.40 in quarter

on the first pass no I was in the groove but not on the second and third passes and I honestly didn't realize it until a couple of friends who are very saavy racers told me about it and complained to track officials
ok fellas real quick I know supposedly the C5 Z06 front 17x9 wheels fit the rear of the C6 but does it even clear big brakes?
They do on a Z06, if those are the "big brakes" you have. Several Z06 owners run them with Hoosier 275/40x17 tires. FNBADAZ06 ran 1.5's consistently with that exact combo when he only had a CAI.
You could also use C4 A-molds, sawblades, or salad spinners in the same 17 x 9 size, if you don't mind the weight penalty of 1#, 2#, and 3# respectively per wheel. I assume the weight isn't that important, since the Z06 brakes (J56) are more than 30# heavier than the base (JL9) brakes.
