ok , need input on any known valve lifter problems with the LS2 engine , I have a mild tick, even when fully hot . some say normal for LS2's and also say injectors make noise also , do injectors make more noise when dirty or wore out, car only has 51,000 miles and not really driven crazy , well ,all the time

You are probably going to have to post up a video so we can hear it. Injectors do tick but the noise isn't usually confused with piston slap or valvetrain noise.
piston slap goes away as the engine heat up,, this is a very mild tick , will pop the hood and listen a little closer to the engine .
but the info I kinda needed is , do LS2's have documented history of lifter / valve problems , a lot of posts say they are known to sound like a sewing machine , a 400 HP SINGER

Not really, but the rocker arm needle bearings can get flat spotted or worn and make a rocker tick. Most people don't worry about a rocker trunnion upgrade until they step up in cam and valve springs.
worn needle bearings @51,000 miles, I would loose my faith in GM in that case, i'm 71 yo all these years all GM cars up to and past 150,000 on some small blocks.. 69 Z28 for one / 64 GTO / built 327 /283 etc, 5.3 VORTEC SILVERADO all driven, and a 348 in a 59,, 396 SS Chevelle.. not babied,, not one internal problem on any of them ,, so hope the LS2 was not a bad choice,, but lots of post from LS2 people say they are noisy , Corvette / GTO/ Caddy all had the LS2
I have a 2005 LS2 @ 55K if I haven't driven it in a while sometimes I get a very light tick at first or even after I've been clowning around. Sometimes I notice it and sometimes I don't.
I guess the answer is subjective as to how loud the tick is. In my case I'm not going to worry about it. HTH
Check your exhaust manifold bolts. Look for headless bolts in the front and rearmost bolt holes in the manifold. Both sides. From lots and lots of reading in multiple forums and articles on the interwebs it appears that this is extremely common on ALL LS engines. Trucks, vettes, 5.3, 6.0, ect.
I have a 05 C6 as well......with broken exhaust mani bolts and the same ticking. Will be addressing it this weekend as luck would have it.
Also; I wouldnt worry about the LS2. I believe most people in the know consider it a very reliable engine.

really is this bolt thing common on LS2 ? you said headless bolts ? like broken off heads or ?
Yes. Common on most LS based engines. The bolts ; usually the heads, get sheared off after several years of heat cycles. My guess is its due to the alum heads vs how the cast iron manifolds are designed. Search and you will find more info, as well as videos on YouTube.
As a matter of fact from what I understand its not all that uncommon on other makes and models with aluminum heads + cast iron manifolds. Not all obviously, but some.

i'll have to go take a look , thanks for the info , but if the heads are popping off, it will be a PITA to replace them / pull the manifolds and hope there is enough bolt left to grab onto to remove it
