have a stock LS2 2005 C6 . has Billy Boat route 66 axle backs , too quite for me.
thinking of removing and doing straight pipes from axle back and 4 tips
will it screw up the stock tune / reduce back pressure and have to be re-tuned ?
or will it just run fine ?
I agree about not giving a **** about the neighbors... I personally get along with all of mine and my exhaust is VERY loud. If they are complaining about a car starting up and driving away then they are the type of neighbors who need to move.
HOWEVER I do give a **** about my own comfort. And in all honesty, the loud exhaust gets annoying after a while trust me, been there dun that. I have been running a dual glass pak set up for the past 8 years... I cant wait to change it out. Its just way to freaking loud ALL THE TIME. It makes listening to music or answering the phone a PITA. Dont get me wrong, I still want the bark... however just like the guard dog keeping your home safe, sometimes you just want the fking dog to shut the fk up!
I'm building a custom system now that will make use of 3x Gibson BM0112 MWA Dual In/Out Oval Mufflers. Basically using the by mode the exhaust will pass through direct ONCE and out when open. However when bi-mode is closed the exhaust will be forced to flow into the muffler and out the other side then directed to another muffler through that and then out... so the exhaust will basically forced to pass through 2 mufflers before exit. Ill post some pics when done.
So far I am looking at 3x 3" GP BM0112 mufflers + 3" mandrel bend kit + 8x V-band clamps + 2x 3" vacuum valve actuators, (everything stainless) I have about 950 bucks into it before cutting and welding... However in the end it should sound better and out perform anything available. I could most likely do it for less if I had retained the factory valves (sold years ago, however would need to retain the 2.5"), used non stainless components, not used v-band clamps, purchased a smaller mandrel bend kit... The most expensive parts where the 3" stainless mandrel bend kit and v-bands running just under 500 bucks alone.
thanks for the info.. just sold a 1933 Chevy street rod , all original steel no rust California car, had a semi- built 350 with thrush glass packs, exit out in front of rear wheels, yes, it was loud
A, If your still running the stock cats, it's the reason that the system is still not loud. Pulling the cats, or just running High flow cats will add more sound to the exhaust.
B, Figure out a way to run quit when needed, then loud afterwards.
Trust me, I have a Harley that is loud as hell on pipes, but don't run it through the neighborhood on pipe to **** everyone off instead.
Hence something like high flow cats and Atak system would be as loud as you want without drone, but can still grunt the car out of the neighborhood to not wake everyone up every morning instead. Also, muffler less system doe tend to sound like trash truck, so something like the Atak system will put some sound appealing tone back into the system.

I have the Borla Atak with headers, cam (BTR LS3 Stg 3) and CAI. I agree with Dano523 about everything said. Cold starts are brutal though but that comes with the territory but becomes fairly tame after that.

The car will run just fine, the noise is another question...glad you don't live on my street
I have a LS2 with BTR stage 3 cam, kook headers, cats and no mufflers. Sounds great people compliment me on sound and lope all the time.. At 2300 to 2500 in 4th the drone is unbearable. In town at 45 I have to go the 5th and run below 2200 to reduce the drone. On the highway at 80 I'm running just below too much drone. Muffler delete is not for wusses. But, if you like (or remember) hot rods and drag cars go for it. otherwise stay sane.
Itll be louder without the mufflers but not quite that bad with the stock cats on....as noted above. It will get louder when you go WOT. At idle or cruising speed, eh, you'll get more drone than anything.
