I am contemplating different exhausts. Anyone have any personal experience with BBE PRT? Sounds and looks nice on YouTube. Not sure how the sound level compares to, let's say, Corsa Sport or Borla ATAK which are two other considerations. Any feedback is appreciated.
My car had PRT on it when I bought it. It sounds great; it's pretty aggressive when you get on the gas hard. Idle provides more deep volume but it's not annoying at all. Steady state highway cruise produces noise, but it's not super loud. I loved the burble and pop on deceleration. I take long highway trips with my car, and the noise wears on you after several hours, so I pulled it and installed an NPP system with NPP in a Box. I now have loud when I want it and stock quiet for highway trips; the best of both worlds. The open NPP is louder than the PRT was, and in my opinion does produce some pretty loud buzziness at certain rpm/engine load conditions; mainly low speed (in town, 25-45 mph) mid rpms when going up a long, steep hill.

great info, thank you... Im Surprised that the NPP open is louder than the PRT.
PRT sounds like a pretty good candidate for what I like.
I had BB's Bullets on my '97. They were very aggressive, but not too loud. Just a deep, pleasing, throaty sound; fairly low rumble at cruise. I liked them. Like a Corvette should sound.

Bringing back from the dead.
Wondering how much louder the PRT is than stock/NPP on the highway? Is the "noise" all behind you on the highway? Is the stereo acceptable on the highway?
My only PRT concern would be highway driving. Thanks.

I have a PRT on my 2005 C6 a4 Convertible. I previously had a C4 with a built 383, longtubes, etc. That was loud, the PRT in my opinion is more of a deep exhaust, especially with stock exaust manifolds and stock cats. It is louder than stock, but pretty mellow. At 55-60mph there is some drone. Not bad and the radio takes care of it, might be different in a coupe as mine is the Convertible with a 4 speed auto.

I had prt’s on my 2011 base manual for awhile. It’s a great sounding exhaust it was just a tad too quiet for me. They have a great tone and I don’t know for sure but I’ve read many times they are louder than the stock npp exhaust.
there is very very little drone and highway driving is very enjoyable with this exhaust. You will have no problem having a conversation or listening to the stereo

Everybody is different in their level of noise tolerance. The NPP exhaust is pretty much silent on the highway in quiet mode, and is louder than the PRT in open mode. The PRT was loud enough on the highway for me to change it out. The noise was definitely in the cabin in my vert, not only behind the car. My experience is that the vert cabin is quieter inside than the coupe; the hatch window in the coupe somewhat acts to reflect sound forward into the cabin.
