C6 Stuck in Park
First I'd like to thank Marc Lumyer for leading me to the correct solution to this problem.
That being one of the two micro switches in the shifter assembly.
He correctly pointed out that the switch which should be activated by the shifter in the park position may be defective due to high internal resistance.
I was doubtful when I got a continuity "beep" and ohm meter readings <20 ohms. However when a new switch was tested it read <one ohm.
Even better when the switch was changed everything works perfect.

Glad to hear you got it fixed. I ran into this problem several years back, and first thought that the switch wasn't getting pushed far forward enough, but later had to go in and replace the switch, as it was acting erratic. I replaced both switches while I was in there, haven't had any more problems since.
Later I had to replace the grommets on both ends of the shifter cable, and in hind sight, I should have done both these jobs at the same time so I didn't have to remove the console twice.
