I dont remember how long it's been since I used the high beams. Months probably. Went in for the annual inspection and was told the high beams wont come on by pushing the turn signal stalk forward. They come on when pulling it back to flash the high beams. I have no idea where to start looking. Anyone have any ideas?
Circuit/System Description:
When the turn signal/multifunction switch is placed in the headlamps high or flash to pass (FTP) position, ground is applied to the body control module (BCM) through the headlamp high beam signal circuit or the flash to pass switch signal circuit. The BCM then applies ground to the headlamp high beam relay control circuit which energizes the high beam relay, applying battery voltage to the high beam headlamps.
Since the high beam headlights do come on, the circuit and relay is fine and working Ok. It may be possible that the wire at the stalk for the high beam is corroded, or not making good contact, or the wire is shaffed or broken in connector C2, which is the connector for the high beam/flash to pass (which works).
Wire E is what you want to check. It's either that, or a contact on the stalk assembly itself.
Thanks. I can find the stalk, but where do I find the C2 terminal?
This diagram may give you some help. The Multifunction switch has 4 connectors, C1-C2-C3 and C4. They each have their own function.C2 is the one that controls the low and high beams. C2 is the 2nd connector from the right. I have the service section that shows how to remove the stalk if you ever need it. I've attached it.
