Hello all,
Got a couple of question regarding my flex fuel sensor installation.
My questions are:
Did I install it correct (orientation etc.)? I have trouble fitting the valve covers on.
How did you route the additional PIN to the ECM? I run it at the moment along the harness to the rear fire wall. Than i tugged it into the seal of the hood (good idea?? or not?) to run it
across the engine bay and than down on the rear fire wall to the ECM connector. I secured it with aluminum tape on the rear fire wall.
Do I need additional heat protection for the flex fuel wire (white), I do HPDE a couple of times a year. If so what would you recommend?
Does it make sense to additional support the fuel line to prevent vibration, any suggestions ?
I haven't done the install yet but that looks about right to me... as far as orientation goes...
i was thinking about finding an existing wiring harness loom and running the ecm wire through that, at least across the engine bay.
the sensor is right over the exhaust manifold, I was also thinking about adding some thermal blanket to it for some protection, not sure if it really needs it though, from the forum posts I've read.
do you have hptuners already? you don't need to fill with e85 to verify the sensor is reading correctly...
Thanks for the answer. Thinking about the same things you have mentioned, heat insulation for the sensor and for the wire.
I have HPTuner, but cannot access the car at the moment due to a state wide shut down. What would the frequency reading be with regular premium fuel (i expect something like 10% in regular fuel)?
if you have further information for that let me know always good to know more .
Looks good to me. You will probably have to disconnect the fitting from the fuel rail if you have to pull the valve cover, which isn’t a big deal, as long as you’re careful not to spill fuel on the hot exhaust manifold, etc.
I put the inline power plug on the rear coil so that I didn’t have to run the white wire across the top of the engine and then ran it under the cowl and coiled up the excess wire in the right fender and cable tied it out of the way once I had inserted the pin in the ECU plug. I also bought the small corrugated wire covering I could find and put it over the white wire to protect it.
