Default After cam install trouble code P0300

Hi

Have massive trouble after cam lifter install, i installed a new cam nothing special so it is within spec of LS6 cam only 550 lift and under 220 duration standard pushrod length.
My problem is valvetrain sounds like ****, engine have trouble holding rpm up almost stop, also no power and shudder misfire when appliyng power, engine before cam install ran totally problem free, now i have code P0300.
I have set rockers 22lbs as per several instructions so i know this is ok twice but still terrible valvetrain noise.
When i installed camshaft i am ” almost ” certain that i got the cam correct against the crankshaft marking but i never did the test of rotating the engine several turns to see if the dots lined up every time stupid me, so my question is this can the engine still run and give these symptoms with the camshaft off by one mark on camgear chain drive ?

Edit: Wrong forum moderator please delete, maybe you C6 guys have the answer also though.

Why? So you can screw up the engine. Happens to a lot of these cars.

For pushrod length, anytime you change anything in the valve train, you should always measure to make sure you have the proper length.

But yes, your engine can definitely still run if the timing gear dots are off by 1 mark or gear tooth.

The P0300 code can also register if the new cam has more duration than the stock cam. This is very common.

You need to verify that the cam is installed correctly (dot to dot), then make sure you have the right pushrod length. If after doing that (and assuming everything else is okay), you will probably need a custom tune to get the car running correctly with the new cam.

P0300 is a misfire code. If the car is popping and banging loudly your timing is off. So start over. If that's not the case it could just be a plug wire, coil pack or spark plug issue. Start with the easy stuff if you can.

Also, make sure you're getting oil pressure. You didn't take the pump off did you? If so that could explain the valvetrain noise.

Measured with pushrod length checker and came out at 7.3 zero lash, i have Comp cams lifters and they say .02 - 0.08 pre load, so i am getting 7.325 and 7.35 pushrods to begin with and will try them both to see what could be best, am i on the right track ?
The movie file was to big to upload but it sounds bad in valvetrain but no popping and misfire in that sense it feels more at a stumble and absolutely no power, could not push as it sounded bad in valvetrain.
New MSD wires so no problem there, oil pressure no problem new Melling pump.

Your pushrods are to short if your at 7.3 zero lash and you need .08 preload you should be closer to 7.4 (7.38).
