Replaced Wheel Speed sensor and Still Getting C0045 code
Update on the Service active handling.
Took it to the dealership to get it checked out. They found internal open in the steering wheel position sensor.
They also found my brake pedal switch bad, which I already knew.
The total to replace the steering wheel position sensor with pigtail and the brake pedal switch is $497.19.
Is that a fair price or could my local mechanic do this job.
Is it just replacing parts and no reprogramming from the dealership needed?
Don't want to buy a Tech II tool since I only work on the car for basic stuff.
Note, if your going to do a brake bleed on the car, will need a Tech II to cycle the abs pump as well.
As for Steering wheel position sensor, that one is a PITA to replace, since you have to pull the steering column to replace it. Also, most of the time is not just the sensor that popped open, but the bearing just before the sensor pops out, and you have to pull half the column apart to just get the bearing to retainer clip back in to start with.
Note here, when the HB was replaced, the column end was not suported when the rack was pulled to get the HB off, and this is what caused the sensor problem to start with. So might want to give the shop a call that changed the HB, and get them to correct the sensor for free since they did cause the problem in the first place.
Myself, would have them price just the Steering wheel position sensor since you may not want to tackle that one (if the HB shop will not correct it as part of there warranty), and would pick up a Nano and brake position sensor to install that one yourself. Hence you or them doing the brake position sensor is going to be about the same amount of money, but you end up with a Tech ii clone in the end, making the next time you need to wrench on the that much cheaper since you already have our own tech II.
So the white/black arm piece is the brake position sensor, and just take a few mins to replace.
Once replaced, go in with tech II to do the relearn. Hence start with not pressure on the switch so the BCM can learn that ohm reading of the sensor to begin with, then next step on the tool will be to put pressure on the pedal until you are just into the brakes with light pressure, click the tech II so the BCM learns that ohm reading and the relearn is done (another 2 mins max).
To sum it up, even the basic stuff on the car, will still require a Tech II at some point for repair. The longer you push off buying your own, the more you going to end up spending $145 a pop for the GM dealer to use theirs isntead.

I didn’t think about that but I see that it would be wise to buy the tool for those other things.
Definitely doing that.
I appreciate all your help. This Thread actually helped some other people with their wheel speed sensor.
